Why I started in
Myofunctional Therapy....

My Why: Because Every Breath Matters

My mother is one of the most incredible, beautiful, strong, and hardworking women I know. About 13 years ago, her life changed when she underwent heart surgery and received a pacemaker and defibrillator. She had always been energetic, busy, and constantly on the go. But after surgery, she had to slow down. Her heart simply could not keep up the way it once had.

As her daughter, I wanted to understand why.One of the pieces of her health journey was sleep apnea. Night after night, her breathing was interrupted while she slept. Sleep apnea can affect the body’s oxygen levels and place stress on the cardiovascular system. Over time, untreated sleep apnea can take a serious toll on overall health. That experience changed me.I couldn't stop thinking about what might have happened if her breathing and airway concerns had been recognized earlier. Could earlier evaluation and appropriate treatment have changed her journey?

I will never know the answer—but I know what I can do today.

I can educate.
I can listen.
I can look for the signs.

And I can help families understand that the way we breathe, sleep, swallow, and use our oral muscles matters.

That is why I became passionate about Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. My mission is to help people recognize concerns earlier and take action before they become bigger problems. Whether I am working with a child whose face and airway are still developing, an adult struggling with sleep or breathing, or an athlete looking to improve breathing efficiency, I want my patients to understand their bodies and have the tools to help them function at their best.

Prevention Starts With Awareness.

My mother’s story is a reminder to me every day that health should never be taken for granted. I can't change what happened to her. But I can use what I have learned to help someone else. That is my why. And that is why I am committed to helping my patients breathe better, sleep better, function better, and live fuller lives—one breath at a time.

Helping You Breathe, Sleep, and Feel Your Best

With more than 25 years of experience as a clinical hygienist, I have seen firsthand how problems with the mouth, tongue, and facial muscles can affect a person’s health and quality of life.

Through specialized training and certification in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, I am now able to help patients address these concerns in a whole new way. Healthy breathing and proper oxygen intake are important at every stage of life. They can support children as their faces and airways develop, help adults feel and function their best, and even support athletes as they work toward peak performance. I also work with oral habits, such as thumb sucking, and sleep-related habits and concerns, including sleepwalking and bedwetting.

What I love most about this work is helping people make positive changes that can improve their everyday lives. My goal is not only to provide therapy, but also to educate and empower my patients with tools they can use for a healthier, fuller life. The best part? Many therapy exercises take just 5 minutes, twice a day. Small changes can make a big difference.
